Egyptian Art Papyrus Painting
This beautifully detailed scene is the ceremony of the weighing of the heart. The ancient Egyptians then believed that if they died they would be judged on their behavior during their lifetime before they could be assigned to a place in the afterlife. This ceremony was called the Weighing of the Heart.
On the far left, Goed Osiris is watching the court process.
On the right is the statue of the deceased, next to Toth and Anubis who will judge his fate.
Thoth is the god with the head Ibis, who records all the happenings, while Anubis, the god of burials and embalming, watches.
