Seti I

Seti I was the son of Ramses I and Queen Sitre. Like his father before him, Seti was a good military leader. He plundered Palestine and brought Damascus back under Egyptian control. He reconciled himself with the Hittites, who were always the most powerful state in the region. Seti I and his heir, Ramses II campaigned against Kades. In Karnak he completed his father's plan by converting the court between the second and third row of pylons into a large hall in hypostyle. He built his extremely complex mortuary in Abydos. In Thebes, he built his tomb, located in the Valley of the Kings. Between the cliffs, it was the largest grave in the area. With him, more than 700 shabti were buried. These carved stones or wooden figures were meant to accompany him to the afterlife and to fulfill the requests of the gods.
